Living in the Now: Letting Go of the Past and Future Worries

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

I value my present time, where I can make the most difference. It’s the space where life happens, and I try to focus my energy on what’s in front of me. However, like many others, I occasionally worry about the future or revisit the past without any particular reason.

The past is full of moments of introspection: memories, regrets, lessons learned. The future often holds anxiety, built upon uncertainties and “what-ifs.” These feelings occur naturally; however, they usually divert my focus from where my life is now.

Over time, centring myself in the present has been a way to release many extra concerns. Mindfulness, focusing on small and attainable goals, and embracing the present moment have been substantial balances for me. The past moulds me, and the future motivates me, but my true power resides in today’s actions.
