What is your favorite place to go in your city?

The Wellington Botanic Garden is my favourite place in the city. This 25-hectare oasis in the heart of Wellington is a great escape, especially during spring when it bursts into colour and beauty.
Some of the spring highlights are the tulip displays. The garden has moved with the times, embracing sustainable planting, but there are still many pockets of tulips, adding wonderful splashes of colour. One very beautiful feature is the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, which flowers from November onwards. It boasts 110 rose beds displaying different types of roses; this is a pretty place to sit and enjoy the lovely, sweet fragrance.
Other most-liked features of the garden include the Duck Pond. Lined with heavy greenery, it is an undisturbed area where you can see paddling ducks and experience calmness.
A walk in Wellington Botanic Garden is always refreshing. From the mix of native and exotic plants through the scenic paths to the seasonal flowers, the place feels magical throughout the year. This is a spot I usually retreat to for relaxation, reflection, and appreciation of nature’s beauty.
If you are in Wellington, it’s a must-see, especially when spring is in full bloom. It is a little slice of peace in the middle of the city.
