What’s the first impression you want to give people?

The first time anyone gets to know me, I try to come across as someone who understands and values them. Empathy is the bedrock upon which I try to make my first impression, for through empathy, one can relate on deeper levels with people while allowing them enough space to be themselves and be heard.

Working within the healthcare field for years has taught me that someone always has to say something, and many times, they just need someone who will really listen. Showing empathy is not just being able to understand how another feels; it is also about being present and genuinely concerned with a warm smile, an open mind, or a thoughtful conversation.

Empathy goes beyond words; it’s about actions that show comprehension. When meeting new people, I hope they can feel my genuine interest in their perspective and my eagerness to relate nonjudgmentally. That’s the impression I want to leave: one of kindness, understanding, and shared human connection.
