This year, we decided to take a memorable trip to Milford Sound with our family. We flew from Wellington to Invercargill with Air New Zealand. The flight was smooth, and we were excited to start our adventure. We stayed in an essential bach in Invercargill for one week, which was simple but comfortable for our family.

The Drive to Milford Sound
We drove from Invercargill to Milford Sound for a day during our stay. The drive was long but beautiful. We stopped to see some amazing sights, like the Mirror Lakes, where the mountains reflected perfectly in the water. The kids loved exploring the area and enjoying the fresh air.
Driving through the Homer Tunnel was an exciting part of our journey. It’s a tunnel carved through the rock, and when we came out on the other side, we were greeted by incredible views of the mountains.
Exploring Milford Sound
When we reached Milford Sound, we were amazed by its size and beauty. Huge mountains surrounded us, and we could see waterfalls everywhere. We had booked a boat cruise, which took us through the sound. The kids were thrilled to see dolphins and seals; we were lucky enough to spot a penguin! Seeing a penguin in the wild is rare, making the experience even more special.
The cruise was peaceful and allowed us to see nature up close. We felt so lucky to experience such a special place as a family.
A Trip to Remember
After our day at Milford Sound, we returned to our bach in Invercargill. The whole week was beautiful, giving us time to relax and explore. The trip was unforgettable, and we were so happy to have spent this time together in such a stunning part of New Zealand. Milford Sound is truly a magical place, a memory we’ll treasure forever.
